Congratulations to Robert Baird

Congratulations to our own Robert Baird! Centropus bairdi, a recently discovered Pleistocene-aged, large predatory ground-dwelling cuckoo from southern Australia has been named after our director for his tireless assistance and support of research into avian palaeontology. The Centropus bairdi comes on the back of an earlier fossil named in his honour in 1984 – Murrindalaspis bairdi.
