Biosis are experts in responding to heritage reporting requirements as defined by NSW legislation, including the Heritage Act 1977, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, and others including various State Environmental Planning Policies (SEPPs).
In its simplest form a SoHI is a report assessing how your project or development may affect the heritage significance of an item or place. It is required for approvals under the Heritage Act 1977 and may be requested by local councils or Government agencies.
Step 1. Send Biosis an enquiry with the location of your site, proposed works (whatever stage they are up to) and major milestone dates.
Step 2. A Biosis heritage consultant will work with our GIS Spatial Services team to complete an online assessment of your property address and then provide you with some initial feedback and any potential constraints.
Step 3. We will flag any obvious issues for your project and offer some advice following a desktop assessment.
Step 4. A Biosis Heritage consultant may complete an on-site assessment and then provide further advice about how to avoid heritage impacts for the project.
Step 5. A consultant will deliver a report with evidence-based content assessing how your development will, or will not, impact the heritage values of the site, and appropriate recommendations.
This is heavily influenced by the design of the project and its impact on the heritage value of the item or place. A short letter can take a few weeks, but a larger development can take longer. We can help with practical solutions to help meet the project timeline.
