Katrina Sofo

MEnv, BSc, DipPM Facilities Manager

Katrina is a senior zoologist and was appointed the role of Facilities Manager in 2025 on a short term secondment to effectively manage the service quality and output of the facilities team ensuring all Biosis offices, fleet and equipment are maintained to the highest degree.

Katrina has been with Biosis for over 20 years, commencing in 2004 as a technical and research assistant, before becoming a consultant zoologist for over 10 years. In 2017, Katrina moved into the role of ecology team leader and then as manager of the Victorian ecology team in 2019. She has long held a passion for the environment and biodiversity and kick-started her career by completing a Bachelor of Science with a major in Zoology from The University of Melbourne, followed by a Master of Environment degree to gain further knowledge in conservation biology and threatened species management.

Over her career, Katrina has become accomplished in many facets of ecological consulting. As a senior zoologist, she is proficient in fauna habitat assessments, targeted fauna surveys, and the preparation of biodiversity reports and management plans. Katrina has worked on projects throughout south-eastern Australia, applying her zoological knowledge and providing ecological advice and quality assurance for a diversity of large infrastructure projects, including wind farms, major roads, rail lines, and water/power pipelines.

Katrina has continued to expand her knowledge and qualifications through further studies, successfully obtaining a Diploma in Project Management, a Diploma in Business, and a mini MBA. The diversity of her skill set has seen Katrina successfully manage and deliver a breadth of high quality projects for a range of clients. With strong organisational capabilities and excellent knowledge of our processes and procedures, Katrina is working to build a facilities team to effectively and efficiently support the exceptional work and ongoing growth of Biosis into the future.
