Senior Environmental Planner

We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Senior Environmental Planner to join our Environmental Approvals team at Biosis. You could be located in any of our Victorian offices, and you will have the chance to contribute your expertise to a variety of engaging projects.

As a key member of our team, you will have experience with managing environmental approvals and be capable of providing sound planning advice and guidance to our clients.

Your responsibilities will include participating in, conducting, and managing complex projects, and the production of technical reports. Additional duties will include proposal writing, business development and establishing a profile in the professional community.

Working closely with our multi-disciplinary team of professionals, you will become an integral member of Biosis’ Environmental Approvals team, a key contributor to existing and future projects throughout Victoria, and a driver for the development of our environmental approval capabilities in the region.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the planning and delivery of planning approval and environmental impact assessment projects.
  • Provide environmental planning advice to clients on the application of Victorian and Commonwealth environmental and planning legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Prepare concise and clear advice and recommendations on statutory and environmental planning matters to facilitate client projects.
  • Work as part of multidisciplinary teams across the urban development, infrastructure and energy sectors.
  • Build internal and external relationships through project management and new and existing sales opportunities.

To be successful in this role, you will need

  • Tertiary qualifications in planning, environment or related discipline.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a planning related role, preferably inclusive of environmental approvals experience.
  • Experience in a consulting environment and managing small to medium projects through the approvals process.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience working on environmental approvals projects under Commonwealth and Victorian legislation, including the Environmental Effects Act 1978 (EE Act) and Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act)
  • An understanding of the Planning and Environment Act 1987, the Victoria Planning Provisions, and the planning approvals process.
  • Australian work rights are mandatory for the role.
