We’re excited to welcome a new Heritage Consultant to join our team in a full-time permanent role at our Wollongong office.

This is a mid-level to senior role for an ambitious individual eager to accelerate their career in heritage. You will work alongside experienced and highly knowledgeable colleagues who will guide and support you. Ideally, you will have a Bachelor (Honours) or Master’s degree in Archaeology, an interest in Aboriginal and historical archaeology, and 3+ years industry experience to qualify for this position.

  • An archaeology degree (Honours), or a Masters in Archaeology or similar.
  • 3+ years’ experience.
  • Demonstrated interest in Aboriginal and /or historical heritage.
  • Relevant work experience in Aboriginal and/or historical heritage (preferred but not essential).
  • Ability to work on site, away from home and in remote locations, if necessary.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A current and valid driver’s licence.
  • You must have the right to work in Australia to apply for this job.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Have an understanding of site patterning, land and site formation processes on the locations and survival of artefacts for both Aboriginal and historical sites.
  • Be a key contributor to the preparation of Aboriginal Due Diligence Assessments and Cultural Heritage Management Plans.
  • Lead and contribute to fieldwork projects for Aboriginal archaeological projects.
  • Continue to build on your skills in communication and consultation with relevant authorities, communities, clients, landowners, and the public, in relation to own projects.
  • Be skilled in technical report writing and understand the different types of reports required.
  • Deliver projects on time, within budget and meeting the client’s requirements.
  • Develop an understanding of and implementing Biosis’ high standards.
  • Manage budgets for projects and develop skills in managing variations.
  • Understand the current regulatory requirements, their impact on our work and be able to explain to existing clients.
