Commercial Development 133-169 Fairbairn Road, Sunshine West, Victoria, 3020, Australia Post Parcel Facility Project, Sunshine West, Vic (EPBC 2018/8275)

The following notice is published pursuant to Section 95A(3) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).

Australia Post is seeking approval under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) for the development of additional industrial warehouse facilities at the rear of their existing Melbourne Parcel Facility located at 133-169 Fairbairn Road, Sunshine West, Victoria.

The proposed action was referred to the Australian Government Department of the Environment and Energy (DoEE) on 13 August 2018 (EPBC 2018/8275). On 18 October 2018, DoEE deemed the proposed action a ‘controlled action’ due to the potential for a significant impact on listed threatened species and communities (Section 18 and 18A). On 6 December 2018, it was determined that the project will be assessed by preliminary documentation. The controlling provisions under the EPBC Act are ‘listed threatened species and communities’ (Sections 18 and 18A), specifically the Golden Sun Moth Synemon plana.
