Finance and Payroll Officer (Melbourne).

Biosis is looking to appoint a dedicated Finance and Payroll Officer to join our finance team in Melbourne. This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading consultancy which provides ecological, heritage and environmental approval services throughout south-eastern Australia.

Working closely with our multi-disciplinary team of professionals, you will become an integral member of the finance team, and a key contributor to existing and future operations throughout the whole of our company.

Our Melbourne office is located in Port Melbourne, close to the CBD and easily accessible by public transport.  We are a very short walk from the North Port tram stop. This central location provides access to all the services of Melbourne without the hassle of traffic and parking.

The Finance and Payroll Officer is a key business support role to the Biosis consulting and management teams, directly reporting to the Financial Controller. The main duties of the Finance and Payroll Officer include employee record maintenance in the Exonet database, processing payroll functions and WorkCover, processing reconciliations and disbursements, inducting new employees, and various administrative duties including data entry, filing and reporting as required.

Essential selection criteria

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in accountancy or finance (or equivalent discipline)
  • Demonstrated 3+ years’ of finance and/or payroll experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal & negotiation skills
  • Understand financial statements and reports
  • Understanding of MS Excel functions (intermediate level)
  • Competency with computer programs and software such as MS word, outlook, and/or similar software packages
  • Australian citizenship/residency, or a valid work permit
  • Experience in APS and MYOB Exonet payroll systems (desirable, but not essential).
