Accounts Payable Assistant, Melbourne.

Biosis is looking to appoint a skilled and reliable Accounts Payable Assistant to join our accounts team in Melbourne. This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading environmental consultancy which provides ecological, heritage and environmental approval services throughout south-eastern Australia.   

This is a full time 12 month contract position, with the opportunity to extend for the right candidate.

Biosis employs an experienced team of multi-disciplinary environmental professionals, providing consultancy services.  We have offices in Albury, Ballarat, Melbourne, Newcastle, Sydney, Wangaratta, Western Sydney and Wollongong.

This role is an excellent opportunity for a junior accounting professional to expand their knowledge in a busy and progressive consultancy. Biosis provides direct professional development opportunities and flexible working arrangements.  

Our Melbourne office is located in Port Melbourne, close to the CBD and easily accessible by public transport.  We are a very short walk from the North Port tram stop. This central location provides access to all the services of Melbourne without the hassle of traffic and parking.

The Accounts Payable Assistant is a key business support role working to support the Assistant Accountant and Payroll Officer, and directly reporting to the Financial Controller. The duties include assisting in the processing of supplier invoices and team expenses, accurate data entry and maintenance of historical records in MYOB, and contributing to continuous process improvement of our finance processes.

To be considered for this role, please address the below selection criteria in your cover letter:

  • Tertiary qualifications in accountancy, finance or business administration (or an equivalent discipline).
  • A minimum of one year of finance or accounts payables experience.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • An understanding of financial statements, invoices and reports.
  • An intermediate level of MS Excel competency (such as the use of accountancy formulas).
  • Competency with MS Word, Outlook or similar software packages.
  • Strong organisation and team-coordination skills.
  • Australian citizenship or residency, or a valid work permit.
  • Experience in APS and MYOB systems (desirable, but not essential).
