We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Botanist to join our team.

Biosis is looking to appoint an ambitious Botanist to join our team in Albury for a full time 12-month contract position, with the opportunity to extend for the right candidate. This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading consultancy, which provides ecological, heritage and environmental approval services throughout south-eastern Australia.

The Botanist will have experience in field botany, and the capability of providing environmental advice and guidance to our clients. Your responsibilities will include designing, coordinating, and undertaking field surveys and projects, preparation of proposals and technical reports, and undertaking project management and client liaison responsibilities. Additionally, you will establish an industry presence in the professional community as a Botanist.

The Botanist will work closely with our multi-disciplinary team of professionals and will become an integral member of the ecology team in Victoria. The Botanist is a key contributor to existing and future projects throughout Victoria and New South Wales, and a driver for the development of our ecological capabilities in the region.

Ideally, you will have a Bachelor or Masters degree in Ecology or Botany to qualify for this position.

To apply you will need to submit a CV and cover letter addressing the following required skills and attributes:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in ecology and or botany
  • A minimum of three years’ botanical experience, preferably in consultancy or the public sector
  • Broad plant identification skills, with experience in Victoria
  • Strong report writing and proposal writing skills
  • Working knowledge of Commonwealth and state legislation with regard to ecology
  • Experience with field survey design and implementation
  • Experience in sales, client relationship management and business development including proposal preparation, client liaison and consultation
  • Experience with project management, including budgets
  • Competency with computer programs and software such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or similar software packages
  • A current manual driver’s license
  • Australian citizenship, or a current work permit (required)
