Research Assistant – Heritage, Newcastle (12 month contract).

Biosis Pty Ltd, a leader in ecology and heritage consulting, is seeking to appoint a full-time Research Assistant (Heritage) for 12 months, ideally in our Newcastle, New South Wales office (or potentially in Wollongong or Sydney).

Biosis has undertaken many ecology and cultural heritage projects throughout south-eastern Australia and employs a highly experienced multi-disciplinary team that includes Archaeologists, Aquatic Ecologists, Botanists, GIS Operators, Environmental Planners and Zoologists. We have offices in Albury, Ballarat, Melbourne, Newcastle, Sydney, Wangaratta and Wollongong. As part of the office you will have all of the advantages of living in one of NSW’s premier regional centres with all of the services of a big city but with affordable housing, short commuting times and a relaxed lifestyle. You will have the opportunity to work in a range of natural environments with a diverse range of clients.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual who will be working with our consulting team to provide essential logistics, research and administration support.

To be considered for this role, candidates must satisfy the following key selection criteria:
• Appropriate tertiary qualifications in archaeology.
• Understanding of field survey, excavation and report writing techniques.
• Understanding of Commonwealth and State legislation with regard to archaeology.
• Well organised and a clear, proactive communicator.
• A practical problem solver who can think on their feet.
• Self-motivated with strong time management skills.
• Proficient with technology and experienced in the use of Outlook, Word and Excel.
• A current manual driver’s license.

This opportunity will develop your knowledge within the archaeological consulting industry while supporting our NSW heritage team.
